Title: To Dance
Author: Siena Cherson Siegel
Illustrator: Mark Siegel
Publisher: Atheneum Books for Young Readers
Publication Date: 2006
ISBN: 978-0-689-86747-7
Rating: 5 out of 5 ballerinas
Summary: This graphic novel is great for children to read who have already been exposed to this genre before. The text in the novel is very small and each page is filled with a decent amount of text, in relation to the frames. there are also several frames that outline each page, along with illustrations that are drawn outside of frames, to help tell the story. Not too many inferences have to be made with this book, but it is interesting to go through. This book goes through a young girls life, from the time she was four years old, until she was in college. She turned into a prima ballerina, all because of her doctor telling her she had flat feet. The young girl found so much joy in dancing every where she went, that when she went away to college and stopped dancing, she was upset and had to go back. This book helps show that children should never give up on their dreams, especially if someone or something tries to tell them that they cannot do something.
