Author: Dick Gackenbach
Publisher: Weekly Reader Books
Publication Date: 1980

Summary: Hattie Rabbit and Linda Chicken are two friends who love Easter, which is coming very soon. When they are together one day, they see a sign on a tree advertising for specific animals to be in an Easter play. The sign said that chickens were wanted, not rabbits, which allowed Linda to be in the play, but not Hattie, which made her so upset. Read the rest of the book to find out what happened in the Easter play!
Hattie, Tome and the Chicken Witch seems like it would be an interesting book for around Easter time! It could also be a good book for beginning readers to read to learn about feelings. Also, it says it is a play and story which could be a great idea to expose different types of text to young readers! Overall, your books sound very interesting and I can't wait to hear about them in class.
ReplyDeleteNice job including a nonfiction/informational beginning reader in your collection this week. Those are becoming easier to find and certainly appeal to a wide variety of readers. I always find them a bit harder to read because of the specialized vocabulary.
ReplyDeleteRotten Ralph and his Rotten Family reminded me of the beginner reader books that I read. Many of my books had animals as the main character and they were getting into trouble too!
ReplyDelete"A Day in the Life of a Builder" seems like a very interesting topic for a beginning reader! I feel as though at that age, especially boys, it may be a good topic. It brings me back to the discussion we had in class, is this a gender specific book?
