I love different versions of Cinderella. I think this is such a neat way to learn about different cultures. With the Rough Faced Girl, students can learn about Native Americans and their culture. This is a classic story so students will be able to compare and contrast the cultures easily.
ReplyDeleteThe Rough Faced girl is such a moving version of Cinderella. It is really different from the traditional, Disney tale and highlights differences in the cultures from which the stories come. We are going to look at this version in class this week.
ReplyDeleteI always thought "Little Red Riding Hood" was a little gruesome for children- the whole eating of the grandmother and the girl then getting cut out is a little much! The illustrations are very traditional and add to the text.
ReplyDeleteThe rough faced girl is such an interesting twist on Cinderella. It really highlighted the Native American culture. This would be a good book to teach a class when learning about the different cultures incorporated into books!
